Installing the Agent with RRM Tools

Introduction

While the installer files for our endpoint agent can be downloaded from the MDR Portal, they are also stored directly on your network sensor, be it physical or virtual.

These sensor-hosted installer files can be accessed without logging into the MDR Portal - and they have no license file associated to them. These files are also updated automatically as we release new version of the endpoint agent. 

If you plan on deploying the endpoint agent using an RRM or MDM tool, these sensor-hosted agent locations are particularly useful. Using this approach to RRM deployments result in much smoother upgrades, as it removes the need to replace out of date installers in your RMM or MDM tool. 

This article outlines how to leverage sensor-hosted agents for automated installations, as well as some insight on how we release and maintain new versions of our endpoint agent and recommends best practices for deploying agents using a either an RMM, MDM, or GPO deployment tool. 

Requirements

To leverage sensor hosted appliances, the endpoint device must be on the same network as the as the sensor. If that is not the case for your deployment, see <SECTION NAME> below. 

Leverage Sensor-Hosted Installer Files

All endpoints must be on the same network as the sensor for this approach. 

The specific steps of this procedure vary across organizations and deployment tools. During this procedure, you will need to provide the license.txt file for your organization into your deployment tool (RRM, MDM).  

To obtain the license file, download the endpoint agent installer package from the MDR Portal.

You also need to configure your deployment tool to use the correct location paths so it can retrieve the installation files from your network sensor.  

You can download the installers from a physical sensor at the following location. Ensure to replace <sensor-ip> with the actual IP addre4ss for your sensor.
