Troubleshooting manual endpoint installation issues for Windows

This guide will help you to troubleshoot your Windows endpoint agent installations

To perform a manual uninstallation successfully, ensure that Endpoint Agent Protection is turned off. Once the manual uninstallation of the endpoint agent is successful, you can reenable the feature.

Step 1

Ensure your PC or Server is running the appropriate Windows updates and service packs as listed on our Operating System Requirements page.

Step 2

Obtain the correct Endpoint installation file for your server.  There are both 32 and 64bit files available, ensure you are using the correct installer.

Step 3

If installing directly to a Server/PC ensure you are installing using local copies of the files.  Do try and install using files on an SMB share.

Copy the files from the share to the local machine first.

Step 4

Ensure you are not trying to run the installer from within the .zip file.  You must extract the files into a folder before trying to install.

Step 5

Ensure your "license.txt" file is in the same directory as your installer.

The file must be spelled "license.txt".  We have encountered cases where the file has been manually renamed to "licence.txt" causing the installation to fail.

Step 6

Ensure that the file path to your installer and license.txt file is using the basic latin/roman alphabet.  Accented characters such as àâçéèêëîïôùûüÿ will cause the installation to fail.

Step 6

If you need to start over, we have a guide that will step you through a manual uninstall of the Field Effect endpoint agent.
