Why are Usernames shown as Unavailable on the DNS Firewall Page

The DNS Firewall uses endpoint-agent based detection to discover a device's username(s). Currently, this functionality is supported only by Windows workstations with the Field Effect endpoint agent and also does not have DNS software installed.

All other devices that do not meet these criteria will be given "unavailable" device names.

Example unsupported devices include:

  1. Hosts with no Field Effect Endpoint agent
  2. Hosts running conflicting DNS software
  3. Hosts running macOS
  4. Hosts running Linux
  5. Windows servers
  6. Mobile devices
